I have questions about charging sales tax?

I just started a small DBA business. Sole-prop. I do however have a EIN though.
My question is, Do I need to charge people sales tax?
1: I live in Texas.
2: I'm offering services, time, ....not selling any products.
3: I am only able to accept cash or checks at this point, no credit cards.
Help?!

I went into a bookstore the other day and asked the woman behind the counter where the self-help section was. She said, "If I told you, that would defeat the whole purpose." (note: "self-help" has two meanings 1) you take without paying 2) you can choose as you like)
