Your group has decided to open a small business selling office supplies by mail order. One of the items you want to sell is a box of dry erase markers. Each box contains 20 markers and the customer will pay for the postage. An important thing to decide is the best price to charge for the markers. After doing some market research, you found that if the box of markers cost $30.00, plus postage, no one would buy them. However, if you charge nothing, but the customer still pays for the postage, you can sell 1200 boxes of markers per month. The best price will be somewhere between these extremes.
Answer the following questions:
You must show all work in order to receive full credit.
1.Assume there is a linear relationship between the number of boxes sold per month (n) and their price (p). Use the information provided to graph this relationship.
2.Use your graph to find the linear function n(p) = _______________ that describes the situation.
3.If you sell n packages at a price p, your income will be their product n x p. Use your formula from part 2 to find a formula for your income in terms of p only.
