How do I become independent?

I am 21 and I haven't worked since I was in high school. I went to
College and my parents paid for everything. They discouraged me from working because they wanted me to make good grades. My grades are good but after three years of college, I have changed my major 6 times. I chose not to go to school this semester until I figure out what I want to do. I want to know is it possible for me to find a job and support myself? I looked at all my expenses including car insurance and health insurance, it seems impossible! I am not living with my parents; I have two roommates and I live in the city. Finding a job is hard whenever they see that I haven't worked in 3 years! What should I do? Any advice on how to make ends meet?
