So, I admit, I’m really not into Facebook. The more I use it, the more confused I get because it just seems like some feature about it is always changing. Why can’t things just stay the same? Change bothers me, and that is what Facebook thrives on. And the less I use it, the more awkward and obsolete I feel. All the young users who seem to be on their mobiles twenty-four hours a day make me feel like I’m losing touch with technology—and I’m still only in my thirties! All of that aside though, I can absolutely recognize what an asset Facebook can be in today’s business world.

I mean, the only way to get the word out about a company is to actually get the word out. And with something like 500 million users (meaning potential customers) on Facebook, using a Facebook page template for business marketing is definitely the way to get the word out! (more…)

I started my small online business a few years ago. I had created a website to promote my product, but I wasn’t getting much business at all. Fortunately it was just a side business that I was doing for fun. Although the money I was getting wasn’t imperative to staying alive, I still wanted more out of it. What my business was and currently is, is a computer parts shipping company. My customers purchase high end computer parts from my business which I purchase wholesale from other websites in bulk. It’s a good business, and I started it because I knew that there was a good market out there for what I was selling. The only problem was that I wasn’t making many sales. Not necessarily because I didn’t have a good product, but because no one knew about me.

I was new to the internet, and had not yet made an impact large enough to compete with the bigger computer parts websites. I went and talked to some local marketing experts that I knew for a little advice. I half expected them to take one look at my website, and totally revamp it. This however was not the case. They didn’t even care about what it looked like. They asked me a few simple questions about my marketing strategy thus far which needless to say was lacking. I also asked them about if I should use some paid advertising, to which they replied that it was a great method, but that I first needed to start off with some social media websites for advertizing.
