First time renting, please help.?

I was just needing some help with renting my first house/apartment. There are three of us being put on the lease, and one sixteen year old not on the lease. The three of us are all barely eighteen. I'm the only one with credit and have held my job for two years, working on my third. I was wondering if you all could give me some helpful advice and tips. (I do understand that renting with friends is a bad idea, so please don't remind me) Also, I live in So. Ill, and we're thinking about renting in Carbondale, Ill, if that's at all helpful.
I obviously just stated that I am BARELY eighteen, which means yes I am old enough. Also, he's my little brother. I recieved legal gaurdianship of him because our parents are not in our lives.
